ALICE KILPATRICK

Alice first became interested in Pilates a number of years back when she was looking for a form of regular movement to compliment her active lifestyle. Having always had a history of lower back pain, Pilates was the first form of exercise that helped to not only relieve this, but also prevent recurrences. Straight away Alice was hooked on that post Pilates feeling of walking out at the end of a class and feeling taller, stronger and reinvigorated. It wasn’t long into practicing Pilates on a regular basis that Alice became more interested in the how and the whys. Already coming from an allied health background (Alice is a practicing Podiatrist), Alice was keen to learn more and undertook her Pilates training through the APMA. She then went on to work in a large Melbourne studio with a number of highly trained and skilled instructors, and she soaked up every bit of this, furthering her passion for the Pilates Method.

Alice loves the variability of Pilates and how it can be used in so many ways, as a rehabilitative tool, to improve strength, conditioning and flexibility, or just for general movement. She aims to teach Pilates in a way that can then be taken out and used in everyday living. It’s this translation from the studio to real life that Alice finds most important, and where she believes the most change comes from. Through practicing the Pilates method in every aspect of our lives, not only in the studio, it helps us to move and function to the best of our abilities.
