What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual therapy that aims to treat the whole body as a unit, not only treating the symptoms but looking further at why the condition or injury occurred initially and how to prevent re-occurrence.
Osteopaths are trained to examine, diagnose and treat various conditions and injuries and will often focus largely on the muscle skeletal system. They will observe whether the joints, muscles and connective tissues are functioning at their optimum but will also consider other systems that may be involved or impacting you condition such at circulatory systems, lymphatics, nervous system and much more.

What does osteopathy involve?
In your initial consultation, Lisa will chat with you about your current condition and go through a detailed medical history. Once she has a good understanding of your problem, she will complete a musculo-skeletal assessment. During this, she may go through some orthopedic tests, neurological tests and assess your functional movement, posture, soft tissues and joint range of motion. Once you have been assessed she will then follow with the appropriate treatment. This may consist of soft tissue techniques, gentle joint manipulation and stretching aimed to decrease muscle tension, increase blood flow, increase joint mobility and affect nerve supply. Lisa Also does some dry needling and may incorporate this into your treatment if appropriate. She will discuss this with you before any use of dry needling.

The benefits of Osteopathic treatment
Osteopathic treatment can help with giving symptomatic relief whilst also working to remove the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction.
Treatment can help to reduce pain, stiffness in the muscles and joints and work to restore any muscle imbalances which can lead to increased stress through specific joints and tissues. This is often achieved by a combination of manual treatment and exercises prescription.

Osteopathy can help improve a broad range of conditions and injuries such as neck and back pain, headache and migraines, postural problems, arthritis and extremity pain as well as some conditions of the visceral, vascular and nervous system.

Myotherapy Treatment

PRICE: 60 mins $90

Before your Myotherapy treatment begins, Lu will talk to you about your health and lifestyle. She may probably use creams or oils to help them massage your skin smoothly. A number of different techniques may be used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and deeply penetrate muscles associated with the problem.
Myotherapy utilises a wide range of evidence based treatment approaches to assist with muscular pain and dysfunction. Treatment depends on the assessment.
Techniques include

  • Massage, including sports and remedial techniques
  • Gently moving the patient’s affected body part through its range of motion (passive stretching)
  • Hot or cold therapy
  • TENS therapy
  • Trigger point therapy (acupressure)
  • Myofascial dry needling
  • Exercise prescription

Each session typically lasts one hour. Lu often works in conjunction with other health practitioners to optimise patient outcomes.
